Radio makes Christmas Christmassy for millions

As we head into Christmas 2011 and the shops and lights tell us it’s tinsel time again, spare a thought for the gazzillions who live in places where Christmas is an official ‘non-event.’ For millions of Christ followers and seekers the radio is often their only link with the worldwide church.

Here are three reasons why Radio Missions are especially valuable at this time of the year .. why not add some more yourself?

  1. Radio allows people to participate with the wider fellowship of believers. far too many people do live in restrictive oppressive places where the name of Jesus is forbidden and outward expressions of solidarity are unacceptable, and sometimes punished. FEBC & FEBA programmes reach people like these and include them in the global fellowship.
  2. Radio helps people to celebrate Jesus’ birth and promises. We have so many Christmas carol occasions we even have choice! (that makes us “rich” in my books). But for many people the carols on the radio are their only chance to sing or hum along to the most profound words ever uttered … He came down to earth from heaven,
Who is God and Lord of all,
And His shelter was a stable,
And His cradle was a stall:

With the poor, and mean, and lowly,
Lived on earth our Savior holy.
  3. Radio proclaims (OK, I know its an old fashioned word), radio SHOUTS the message that the Savior is born, that he is Christ, that he is the Lord, and that this is the human race and truly all the universe’s most incredibly good news! Radio can do this over millions and millions of people at once, and it’s happening right now. Awesome!

Have a great Christmas, and pray for those who rely on the help of a little piece of technology to hear, to participate, and to celebrate this incredible season.

Enjoy,

Matt
