It’s such a given thing that parents are fiercely protective of their children. Jesus said “Who of you when your child asks for bread would give them a stone?” (Matthew 7:9) Durr! It’s ridiculous to think that a reasonable parent would supply harmful things to their children. It’s what we call a “no-brainer.”
What we do to encourage our children’s success says a lot about us, and a lot about the things we supply them with, or encourage them to do. Where we send our kids to learn, to be shaped, to hear ideas and become ‘thinkers’ and ‘doers’ – this is important. Plenty of parents make great personal sacrifices to get their children into good schools.
So I love getting stories from our stations that tell us that Muslim and Hindu and Buddhist parents are so inspired by our Christian programmes, teaching and music, that they’re sending their children to church or a Christian school to learn the same biblical values they hear on the radio.
This is Met in South East Asia: “My husband and I love family FM so much. Even we are not Christian but we like to listen to the Christian teaching in the radio. We like to take out the good point to think and practice in our family together. Family FM educates us to love each other more and more and know how to raise my children with the good way. We both open for our children to go to church and learn from teacher because we know Christian’s teaching is good. I like to listen to Family FM.”
Wow! Thanks to Kiwi supporters, children in Asia are getting sent to church by their Buddhist parents. That says something about the programmes I reckon. They’re different.
Be encouraged,
Matt
